"The Loyola University Chicago Family Business Center is pleased to announce the winners of its 18th annual Illinois Family Business of the Year Awards. This awards program recognizes exceptional Illinois-based family businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to business development, family, and the greater-Illinois community. An awards gala honoring the winners and finalists, as well as the tradition, dedication, and success of the family enterprise, will take place on Tuesday, November 29, at 6:30 p.m., at The Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.

"The 2011 Illinois Family Business of the Year Awardees include:

  • Small Family Business of the Year: Richards Graphic Communications Inc.
  • Medium Family Business of the Year: St. Andrews Golf & Country Club
  • Large Family Business of the Year: Ed Miniat, Inc.
  • Community Service Award: Crescent Electric Supply Co.
  • Century Award: Gonnella Baking Co.

"This year's awards drew nearly 200 nominations in five categories: small (companies with fewer than 50 employees), medium (50 to 250), large (more than 250), community service, and the century award. Winners of the awards have demonstrated positive family/business linkage, multi-generational family business involvement, contributions to industry and community, and innovative business practices and strategies.

 

"'The Illinois Family Business of the Year Awards program gives us the opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of family business to our communities and our economy,' said Andrew Keyt, executive director of the Loyola Family Business Center. 'The center is pleased to honor these dedicated families and their businesses.'"

 


 September 2011-- On Monday, September 25, 2011, with the support of Ed Miniat, Inc. and other culinary institutions, the American Culinary Federation with more than 50 ACF chefs and culinary students from Missouri, Texas and South Carolina came together to feed 5,000 volunteers who participated in the fifth annual Great Day of Service.

ift 2010July 2010--The Research and Development team of Ed Miniat, Inc. was recognized as key innovators in the cooked meat realm when Bill Christenson, Director of Technical Services at Miniat, was asked to speak on a forum board at the 2010 IFT Food Expo in Chicago, IL. The forum topic was “Creative Collaboration in Sodium Reduction for Proteins.”

dsc00322May 2010--On May 20, 2010, Miniat hosted Stephen Gerike of the National Pork Board for a Pork 101 short course and product fabrication.

"This was a great opportunity for us to learn more about the production and harvesting process, as well as refreshing our knowledge of pork cuts," said Sam Colson, VP of Sales & Culinary Development. "This demonstration is part of our continuing efforts towards arming our sales force with best-in-class protein expertise."

 

 

 

 


 

 

May 2010--Ed Miniat, Inc. received the Award of Honor, the highest award,for outstanding safety performance at the American Meat Institute Foundation’s annual Conference on Worker Safety, Human Resources and the Environment, held April 29-30, at Westin Crown Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
