Since the COVID-19 Pandemic began, Miniat has worked rigorously to enhance our already stringent safety procedures to address new requirements set forth by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and WHO (World Health Organization). You can read more about our operational response HERE.

However, our response to COVID goes far beyond operational plans. As a family-owned and operated business five generations strong, we are beholden to no one but our customers, employees, and the community that we are Driven to ServeTM. Decisions, particularly in a crisis, are made with the MINIAT CARES focus of People First.

Here are just a few examples of how Miniat employees and the organization have come together to live this value.

Supporting Our Employees: “Kick COVID To The Curb” Kits

Miniat team members enjoyed a safer Memorial Day weekend this year courtesy of the company’s complimentary “Kick COVID to the Curb” kits. Employees each received a kit with hand sanitizer, masks, gloves, toilet paper, a measuring tape, and other hard-to-find items designed to keep families safe at home every day. The kit also included a recipe for homemade bleach disinfectant, a scarce item at any store.

Supporting Our Community: Food Pantry Donations

Miniat employees live our motto “driven to serve” daily. That was exemplified once again as Miniat volunteers delivered 4,320 pounds of meat including chicken, beef, pork carnitas, and barbacoa to the Thornton Food Pantry. The $20,000+ donation was especially welcome as the pantry served almost 2,000 boxes within the communities that many of our employees call home.

Supporting Our Colleagues: Acts Of Covid Kindness

After learning that a few employees in our South Holland facility tested positive for Coronavirus and were recovering in quarantine at home, a group of Miniat employees moved into action to help the affected employees and their families. Because all family members must remain confined during the required 14-day quarantine period, they are essentially cut off from the outside world, unable to run out for supplies, food, and other essentials. Miniat volunteers packaged up food, health care items, cleaning supplies, and more and delivered COVID Care Boxes to each family. Hats off to those performing Acts of Kindness for others!

As an organization, supporting one another like family is ingrained in our culture and we are proud of the efforts of all employees to support their co-workers and our customers.

This was best stated by Miniat CEO, Dave Miniat, during a recent Company Town Hall.

“You have demonstrated the heart and soul of what it means to be “Everyday Heroes”: Coming to work in these uncertain times…keeping the food chain moving…helping keep your co-workers safe…and our customers happy.

While it might be “mask on” time…I say it’s “hats off” time, in recognition of all our frontline workers…our remote workers…and our behind-the-scenes workers who implemented the rigorous COVID health and safety practices.” – Dave Miniat, CEO
